GUIDE / INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS
How to manage multiple Instagram accounts
Instagram lets you keep up to 10 accounts logged in at one time in its app, and switch between them without logging out. To run more, or to run them for clients, pick one of three setups: your own phone with the account switcher, a scheduling tool, or a dedicated iPhone per client that your team and VAs control from a browser.

- HaldeniPhone 2Maya
- KilniPhone 3Tomás
Draft saved on iPhone 1. The client checks it in Instagram before it goes live.
How many Instagram accounts can you have?
Up to 10 accounts can be logged in at one time in the Instagram app.
That is the number Instagram Help gives today. It counts the accounts logged in at the same time, which is what the account switcher holds.

Add an account on iPhone
- 1Tap your profile picture in the bottom right.
- 2Tap the menu in the top right.
- 3Scroll to the bottom and tap Add account.
- 4Tap Log into existing account, then enter its username and password.
Switch between accounts
- 1Tap your username at the top of your profile.
- 2Tap the account you want.
Heads-up
If you once set up a single login for several accounts, Instagram Help says you can no longer add new accounts to it. Each new account needs its own login details.

Instagram account management at agency scale
With clients, posting is the easy part. The hard part is who can touch which account, and what happens when they leave.
Access
Give each person the smallest access that does the job.
Decide who signs accounts in, who posts and who only reviews. Write it down per client.
Separation
Keep each client’s accounts apart.
One shared switcher puts a wrong-account post one tap away. Separate clients by phone, by tool workspace, or both.
Review
Put a review step before anything goes live.
Save posts as drafts, so the client checks the real post in the app first.
Handover
Plan for the day a VA leaves.
If they know the passwords, every account needs a new one. If they only had access you can remove, you remove it and you are done.
Instagram’s own option
For eligible accounts, Instagram’s shared access lets people you invite post without your password, and you can see the actions taken on your account.

Key idea
Run accounts you own, or manage with the owner’s permission. Instagram’s terms apply on every setup, whichever tool or phone you use.
Three ways to manage multiple Instagram accounts
Pick a setup by who needs access, not by how many accounts you have.
Which one fits you?
Three questions. Your answers stay in this page.
Answer all three to see a suggestion.
- Who can access
- Whoever holds the phone, or knows the passwords.
- Review step
- None built in. Screenshots in a chat, at best.
- API and automation
- None.
- Cost
- A phone you already own.
- When a VA leaves
- Change the password on every account they used.
- Instagram limit
- Up to 10 accounts logged in at one time in the app.
Best for: One person running a few accounts of their own.
- Who can access
- Team members you invite to the tool.
- Review step
- Depends on the tool. Look for an approval step before you commit.
- API and automation
- Depends on the tool. Posts go through the tool, not the Instagram app on a phone.
- Cost
- A monthly plan. Check how it counts seats and accounts.
- When a VA leaves
- Remove their seat, then check which accounts they connected themselves.
- Instagram limit
- Accounts connect to the tool, so its plan sets the limit, not the app switcher.
Best for: Teams that plan and schedule posts from a computer.
- Who can access
- Teammates you give Control or Submit on that phone only.
- Review step
- Save the post as a draft on the phone. The client checks it in the Instagram app.
- API and automation
- REST API and MCP server: posts, schedules, batches, webhooks and direct phone control.
- Cost
- USD 100 per phone per month, with its own residential IP.
- When a VA leaves
- Remove their access to the phone. No password ever changed hands.
- Instagram limit
- Each phone runs its own Instagram app, so a client’s accounts count on that phone only.
Best for: Agencies and VA teams that work in the real app for many clients.

How one phone per client works with 0bull
Five steps, from renting the phone to a draft the client approves.
- 1
Rent an iPhone
A physical iPhone reserved to you for USD 100 a month, with its own residential IP for the whole rental.
- 2
Sign the client’s account in yourself
Open the phone in your browser and log in to Instagram on it, the way you would on your own phone.
- 3
Link it by handle
Tell 0bull the handle and the phone it is on. 0bull stores no Instagram password.
- 4
Give the VA that phone only
Control lets them work the phone live. Submit lets them send posts through 0bull. They do not see your other phones.
- 5
Post, schedule or save a draft
Post live in the app, or send it by API or MCP: now, at a set time, or as a draft the client reviews in Instagram.
Step 5 by API: save a Reel as a draft
curl -X POST https://0bull.net/api/v1/submissions \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $OBULL_TOKEN" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"platform": "instagram",
"account_id": "<account id>",
"video_url": "https://example.com/friday-reel.mp4",
"caption": "Fresh sourdough at 7. See you Friday.",
"draft": true,
"webhook_url": "https://example.com/hooks/0bull"
}'Post friday-reel.mp4 to @northside.bakery on Instagram
as a draft, so the client can review it in the app
before it goes live.{
"data": {
"id": "<submission id>",
"platform": "instagram",
"caption": "Fresh sourdough at 7. See you Friday.",
"draft": true,
"status": "pending",
"scheduled_at": null
}
}The phone does the work in a queue. Poll the submission or wait for the webhook: it ends as drafted once the draft is saved in Instagram.
In plain words
- VA
- A virtual assistant: someone who works on your accounts remotely.
- Handle
- The @name of an Instagram account.
- Draft
- A post saved in Instagram but not published, so someone can check it first.
- Control
- The 0bull permission to work a phone live from the browser.
- Submit
- The 0bull permission to send posts to the accounts on a phone.
- API
- A way for your own software to send work, like a post, without clicking.
- MCP
- A standard way for an AI assistant, like Claude, to use a service’s tools.
- Webhook
- A message 0bull sends to your server when a job finishes.
Multiple Instagram accounts, answered.
Instagram Help says you can have up to 10 accounts logged in at one time, and switch between them without logging out. To add one on iPhone, open the menu on your profile, tap Add account, then Log into existing account.
Yes. Add each account in the app and switch from your username at the top of your profile. For client work, a phone per client keeps accounts from mixing and lets you give access one client at a time.
They keep clients apart, give each person only the access they need, review posts before they go live and plan for staff changes. A scheduling tool does this with seats, Instagram offers shared access for eligible accounts, and 0bull gives each client a real iPhone your team controls from a browser.
On 0bull, yes. You sign the account in on the phone yourself, then give the VA Control or Submit on that phone. They work the signed-in app, or send posts through 0bull, and 0bull stores no Instagram password.
The same rules apply: keep accounts apart, limit access and review before posting. A 0bull phone is set up for four TikTok accounts, and the same posting API covers TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
USD 100 per phone per month on 0bull. That includes the phone’s own residential IP, live control from your browser, the REST API and the MCP server.
