GUIDE / POSTING APIS

Instagram and TikTok posting API vs a real iPhone

The official Instagram and TikTok APIs publish through an app the platform has approved and an account that has authorized it. A real iPhone publishes through the native app, the way a person does, so pick by what you need to post and who has to approve it.

Official API

  1. 1Register an app with Meta or TikTok.
  2. 2Get approved where the rules ask: App Review, or TikTok’s audit.
  3. 3The account owner authorizes your app.
  4. 4Your server sends the post to the platform.

Real iPhone with 0bull

  1. 1The account is signed in to the app on your iPhone.
  2. 2Your code calls the 0bull REST API, or an AI agent uses MCP.
  3. 3The phone opens the app and posts.Or it saves a draft for a person to check.
  4. 4You get a status or a webhook.

Which path fits you?

Four questions decide it. The official API is often the right answer.

We sell the iPhone route, so we built this to be fair. It runs on the answers below and nothing else.

  1. 1Are you building a product that other people connect their own accounts to?
  2. 2Must a person see each post in the app before it goes live?
  3. 3Do you post to more than one of TikTok, Instagram and YouTube?
  4. 4Does the phone need to do more than post?

Our suggestion

Answer the four questions to see which path we would start with, and what it costs you.

Runs in your browser. Nothing is sent or saved.

In plain words

App Review
Meta’s check of how your app uses its APIs. Needed before your app serves accounts you do not own or manage.
Audit
TikTok’s check of your app. Until it passes, everything your app posts is private.
Scope
A permission a user grants your app, like video.publish on TikTok.
Container
Meta’s holder for a post. You create it with the media, then publish it.
Webhook
A URL of yours that gets called when a job ends, so you do not have to keep asking.
MCP
A standard way for an AI agent to use tools. 0bull’s MCP server lets an agent post and drive phones.

What the Instagram and TikTok posting APIs ask of you

Both need an app the platform knows about. The details differ.

Each line comes from Meta’s or TikTok’s own developer pages. Open a line to see its source.

Instagram API: what you need

TikTok Content Posting API: what you need

Heads-up

Unified posting APIs wrap these same APIs behind one interface. They save work across platforms, but your accounts still authorize their app, and on TikTok its posts are public only if that app passed the audit.

Full disclosure

We rent physical iPhones and run a posting API on them. Every claim about Meta and TikTok links to their own pages.

See a real iPhone take a task and finish it

This is a 0bull phone getting work from code and doing it on its own.

We used Notes so the recording shows no account. Posting runs the same loop.

Recorded on a 0bull iPhone on October 14, 2026, run by the AI phone agent. Shortened: pauses and one retyped line cut. No sound.
  1. 0:00

    1Your code sends one request

Here it is a task in plain words for the AI phone agent: open Notes and write three lines.

  2. 0:03

2The work is queued on the phone

The phone picks it up and opens Notes on its own. Nobody is holding it.

  3. 0:09

    3The phone does it

It types the note line by line, in the real app, the way a person would.

  4. 0:24

    4You get a status or a webhook

The run ends and your code reads the result. A post works the same way, with Instagram or TikTok instead of Notes.

Worked example: schedule a Reel for 18:00 and hear when it is done

One request schedules the Reel. One webhook tells you how it went.

The client’s account is already signed in to Instagram on one of your phones.

  1. 1

    Send one request

POST /v1/submissions with the account, the video URL, the caption and scheduled_at.

  2. 2

    0bull answers 201

The submission is created with status scheduled. You can cancel it until it starts.

  3. 3

    At 18:00 the phone posts

It opens Instagram on the phone and publishes the Reel.

  4. 4

    You hear back

0bull POSTs the submission to your webhook_url when it ends: published, drafted, failed or cancelled. Or poll it.

Need a review first?

Add draft=true. The Reel waits in Instagram on the phone, and a teammate checks it and posts it.

Platform rules still apply

A phone changes how a post is made, not the rules it is made under. Use accounts you own or are allowed to run, follow Instagram’s and TikTok’s terms, and keep each client’s approval on record.

Posting API questions

Yes. Meta’s Instagram Platform publishes to professional accounts, business or creator. To serve accounts you do not own or manage, your app needs Advanced Access, App Review and Business Verification.

Yes. Meta’s guide creates a container with media_type set to REELS and a video URL, then publishes it. The account must be a professional account.

Yes, the Content Posting API. Direct Post publishes to the profile, and Upload sends a draft to the creator’s inbox. Until your app passes TikTok’s audit, its posts stay private.

On Instagram, only to serve accounts you do not own or manage. On TikTok, you need an approved scope, and an audit for public posts. Posting from a phone through 0bull involves no developer app, but each platform’s terms still apply.

Yes. Connect the 0bull MCP server to your agent and it can list your accounts, schedule a post or save a draft, and check the result. It signs in with OAuth and only sees your own accounts and phones.
